4/24/13DIY Gift Wrap: All Dolled Up

With so many special occasions coming up around the bend (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Graduation…) I wanted to come up with some original gift wrap ideas for you all…no small feat in this internet age, I might add. Well, after some contemplation and visiting a Danish art store (um…wow!!) I came home with some fun stuff and started experimenting.

I was partially inspired by the Alexander Girard dolls that I’ve always wanted but could never bring myself to splurge on, and partially inspired by Scandinavian folk-art. Also, I wanted this gift wrap to be a keepsake even after the gift was opened.

You can find butchers twine HERE .

To make these little guys, I basically cut all the shapes from the stickers (while the sticker backing was still on) and just collaged them free-form onto the boxes. I used washi tape and the baker’s twine for additional embellishment. Initially I felt limited by the few things I had for this project (I don’t have a closet full of crafting materials here like I do at home) but ultimately I think the outcome is actually better than it would have been if I had access to all of my crap–limited palette, more restrained and more simple than my projects can sometimes become. I’m really happy with the result–and this project will forever remind me of Copenhagen :)

  5. […] Como veréis los materiales son de lo más normales, cinta washi, cordón de algodón (baker twine), pegatinas de diferentes formas y colores, tijeras. Inspírate en las imágenes para crear el paquete perfecto. Fuente: blog.justinablakeney […]
